Terramada is situated in Tanoeiro, near Castro Marim in the eastern part of the Algarve. This is mainly an agricultural area characterized by poor soil heavy with laden and slate. The arid and intense heat in the summer months makes living conditions difficult.

- Vegetable garden area: 5000 m2
- Recovering soil area: 3000 m2
- Housing: 1 stone house (main house), 1 warehouse for tools, 1 bamboo hut, 1 caravan, 1 comunitary kitchen
- To (re)build: dome (meeting room) and community kitchen
- Leisure areas: 500 m2, others in construction.

- 1 gasoline generator
- 1 wind generator (recovering)
- Dry toilets (compost is used to fertilize soils and plants).
- The energy in the farm comes mostly from solar panels and a wind generator.
PERMACULTURE VEGETABLE GARDENS – characteristics:
- Soil is not ploughed;
- Permanent soil covering is used (mulch);
- Scarce watering is needed (2-3 times a week during hottest season);
- Exclusive use of organic fertilizers (from compost and worm-culture).
- Soil is free of chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides.
